Situated in northern Campeche, The Hacienda Uayamon is close to Edzna, one of the most intriguing of the Mayan sites. The Hacienda was built in 1700 and is a perfect example of colonial architecture with high ceilings, elegant decor and spacious public areas. Each of its twelve luxurious freestanding casitas features exquisite accommodations, a terrace and private garden. Our rooms:
Uayamon's ten casitas are individual houses on a tree lined road, originally built for the elite of the hacienda staff in the 19th century. Each casita has a spacious air-conditioned bedroom with writing desk and satellite TV, a large bathroom and a terrace overlooking the jungle gardens. High beamed ceilings and mahogany furniture echo the opulence of the hacienda's apogee.
Casitas 5 and 6 are adjoining and share a pretty gated entrance. These two suites would be ideal for a family group (casita 5 has two double beds and casita 6 has a king bed). Casita 6 also has one of the most private gardens, along with casita 4 (king bed) and casitas 1 to 3 (twin beds). Nine of the ten casitas feature a comfortable outdoor daybed in an Asian style gazebo; the other (casita #3) has a terrace adjoining a small cave!
The two suites are housed in a former hospital and are slightly larger accommodations featuring extra amenities such as a CD player. Their gardens are particularly romantic, each with a stone plunge pool and daybed, and are fairly private.

Location
Within easy reach of Uayamon - about half an hour's drive in each case - are the town of Campeche and the hardly-visited but very impressive Mayan ruins of Edzna. Campeche was an important fortified port in colonial days, and the city walls remain intact, as do many of the elegant and newly-painted mansions that line the streets.
The so-called Mayan Puuc sites of Uxmal, Sayil, and Labna are about 90 minutes to the north.
If you are interested in horseriding, the horses are at the disposal of guests, if you prefer cycling, there is also a number of mountain bikes.
