Real-life Stories
"My husband and I went on a seven-day cruise to Bermuda. On the fourth day of our cruise, my husband had difficulty breathing and visited the ships doctor, who determined my husband needed to go to the hospital. An ambulance was summoned and we left. At the hospital a social worker helped me get back to the ship, pack up, leave the cruise and find a hotel for the rest of my husbands stay at the hospital. When I got back to the hospital, I called Travelex Insurance Services to inform them of our predicament. The Travelex Insurance Services customer service representative immediately set up a case file to authorize treatment for my husband. Before he could be released, we had to acquire an oxygen supply for our hotel room, where we would have to stay for two days while our airline sorted through the necessary measures to ensure an oxygen supply on the plane for his flight home...."

"As a travel agent, I helped a woman and her three teenage sons book a cruise to Alaska departing from Seward on a Saturday, including the air ticket. The family was ticketed to leave Kansas City at 6 a.m. Due to storms in the Midwest, the flight was rerouted and my clients were stranded in Salt Lake City. They faced a very real risk of missing the ship embarkation. The airlines wouldnt rebook them on another flight and the cruise line was unable to help. My clients were nearly hysterical, but I was able to find them seats in the computer, book them, and give the record locator to the customer. She was then able to get the airline to transfer the ticket to another flight. So far so good: my clients were again on their way to Anchorage."

"When Kirsten Casey, a travel agent at Cruise Holidays of Silverdale, WA, was asked to escort a group of 26 senior citizens on a cruise from Montreal to New York, she didnt think the trip would provide excitement before the ship had even left port.
As the group gathered in the hotel lobby prior to boarding Holland America Line ship, 68-year-old traveler Elaine was unable to find her purse. Kirsten helped her search, but it was nowhere to be found. Then Elaine remembered placing the bag on the floor, which means it had been stolen. The bag contained all of Elaine's cash, credit cards and travel documents."
